AP Expert Motor

Been away from my blog for awhile, back now and ready to roll.
Excited to start working with new customers.
This week I start work on AP Expert Motors, a local Business based on Limerick’s Ballysimon Road, they are looking for web presence and want to link with Facebook for their social media platform, to be able to keep customers new and existing up to date with the services and special offers they offer

LEAP Business Mentoring

I started in the LEAP program this week. It is a 12 month business training and mentoring program, held in the Limerick Institute of Technology. Now that my Masters course at the University of Limerick in Interactive Media is completed I can concentrate on my multimedia business. I move in to my new office space this coming week and get stuck into several projects and a business plan.

3Dcamp at UL

This Saturday 11th of June I will be giving a small presentation on my project “LiL” Little interactive Learners a learning application, at the 3Dcamp Limerick event held in the University of Limerick. The event takes place in the Computer Science and Information Systems building.

Hope to see you there…

Arduino continued…

Today we worked more with the LED, a LDR Light Dependent Resistor and a Piezo like a speaker.

The LDR reacts to light, when it reads light the LED is dim when we cover over the LDR the LED gets bright. We were also able to program the Arduino to give us back a real time report in number values which changes up and down when the LDR is reading light or not.

The Piezo acts as a speaker in this program emitting a squeak of sorts, when the LDR reads light the squeak is low in tone and when we cover the LDR the squeak gets higher in tone.

WordPress wouldn’t allow my MP4 video on my blog BooHoo so you can view it by clicking here: my Facebook page.

Arduino today

Trying out my first program with the Arduino Processor Board, using a simple coding program involving attaching a LED to the Arduino,  getting it to flash on and off.

The coding tells the board to turn on the LED, for a set time(a second) and then turn it off for a set time(a second) and the program loops so the end result is the LED turns on and off perfectly timed.

Cool, can’t wait to learn and do more stuff with the Arduino.

Apple up

This morning with many thanks to Liam from IT my Apple was brought back to life and I retrieved all of my files and work!

Happy days!

Apple down

We have an Apple down, an Apple down!
My Mac wouldn’t boot up this morning.
IT Man came and took away my hard drive…
Please computer Gods, save my work and get it back to me…

Pure Data

Today we are covering video in Pure Data and it is pretty cool.
I like Pure Data although at this stage of learning it, it is complicated and baffling at times.

Soldier on…

Tricity Bendix – Washing machine interface prototype

This is a prototype I built for a User Testing Project in Foundations of Interactive Media Design in Autumn Semester 2010.

I used Dreamweaver and Photoshop to construct the prototype.

Users were given/asked to perform three individual tasks using the prototype.

Example of one of the questions:

Put on a white wash, after the wash has started you discover a red sock inside the machines drum with the white fabrics, you need to stop the wash cycle immediately to remove the sock how will you do this?

Have a go yourself …

Prototype – Tricity Bendix Digital User Interface

Some functions listed in the menus are for illustration only and do not work, the ones that do work, work for the questions in the user testing.

Taught iMedia

The iMedia (Interactive Media) course I am taking is “Taught” and for me this is better than self taught, not that I couldn’t teach myself something new, I have done so, many times in the past, I love learning and life is one big University.

Being taught not only introduces me to new topics but the Lecturers can and have taught me from their experiences and the experiences of people that they tell me about in their lectures.

The course content tries to touch as many bases as possible, it is wide and varying. Topics from Video Production to Pure Data programing to Professional issues, some subjects I will benefit from and some I may never use? Some topics I have covered before and some have opened my mind to so many new things.

Overall the course is excellent!
